About
Starch-based adhesives and special formulations for the paper and cardboard industry.
History
1912
The Puig family started manufacturing wheat starch and its derivatives for the textile and food industries in 1912 in the city of Barcelona.
1960
In the 1960s, the business expanded into the corrugated cardboard industry, where it delivered innovation and spearheaded the introduction of starch in the manufacturing of this type of cardboard in Spain, becoming a leading producer of starches and dextrins in the country.
1975
When foreign industrial groups began entering the Spanish market in 1975, a decision was made to steer the business away from the production of starch and establish a long-term and exclusive business relationship with the Amylum/Tate&Lyle Group, later purchased by the Syral/Tereos Group. This period also brought the enhancement and modernisation of our production line of starch-based adhesives and special formulations for the paper and cardboard industry.
2005
In 2005, our food-grade starch division was sold to the Brenntag Group.
2018
Today, Modexsa is a family-owned company specialising in the production of starch-based adhesives and special formulations for the paper and cardboard industry, operating in both the domestic and international markets
